We currently have an Orange contract for phone and internet (it’s the “Offre Livebox Zen”). When we first took out the contract we believed (probably correctly) that the connection speed was too slow to have the Orange TV package as well. So we don’t currently have one of the Orange TV decoders. But our neighbours say the internet speeds have been improved recently: and they have the Orange TV too.
As far as I understand our current contract, we could have the TV decoder too for the same price – just a deposit to pay. My question is simply this: does the decoder have to be physically cabled to the Livebox, and the TV cabled to the decoder? Because this could be inconvenient in terms of where the TV would be in relation to the Livebox. Any other comments on Orange’s TV service would also be welcomed. Wrote: You could connect the TV box to the Livebox using liveplugs that transmit the signal through the mains cables. Orange charge around 80 Euros for a pair, but they are available more cheaply elsewhere including Ebay. Even UK ones, which are much cheaper, used with a pair of plug adapters will work!
Thanks, that’s a helpful idea. We are already using Orange’s own expensive WiFi extenders to send an internet signal round our mains cables: would I be right to assume the the two different systems wouldn’t interfere with each other?
